Trials and Resources
Using gene editing for clinical trials is a safety concern. Because genetic modifications are permanent, many subjects are not willing to participate in the research.
Furthermore, many labs may lack funding because certain gene editing procedures are restricted by the government. This causes scientists to work under restricted lab conditions, providing difficulty in producing accurate results.

Specificity and Error
Many gene editing tools might have trouble with being directed to a specific cell. Moreover, these tools might cut at the wrong DNA sequence, leading to harm rather than benefit.
There are several ways to modify a gene, and the possibility of making a mistake is not unlikely. Mutations caused by these modifications can be deadly.
